Nitto Europe receives GreenLight Certificate from the European Commission

Nitto Europe has received the prestigious GreenLight Certificate. This is a certificate for the use of energy-saving lighting in companies and public buildings which is being promoted by the European Commission. The energy-savings project was performed by the company Encon which is amongst one of the ten most outstanding promoters of energy-saving relighting projects in Europe.

A considerable part of the energy invoice in companies goes to lighting. In real terms it appears that with some efforts we can considerably save on lighting costs. Well-adjusted lighting in combination with the right control can often reduce the energy consumption by 60%. This is not only good news for the environment: the savings can be so huge that investing in better lighting means a return of investment of only two years.

Jan Baeken, general manager maintenance & engineering : “A large part of our electricity supply goes to lighting. Hence our search for energy-saving lighting. Energy-saving can, however, never mean that our employees would experience less “light comfort”. Encon has guided us excellently in the replacement of the lighting at the SPV winders. The “light comfort” was even better than before and the return on investment is about two years. Another nice example of a win-win situation with regards to ecology and economy.

Eric Pass, director corporate planning & communications : “Efficient use of lighting is the next step in our step-by-step plan towards durable use of energy. In 2009 we switched to green energy from Eneco which already resulted in a serious decrease of C02 emissions. By concrete projects like energy-saving lighting we now try to reduce our consumption, with increasing success !
